The National Airports Company of Bucharest automates free access to parking lots for people with reduced mobility, by recognizing license plates

The National Airports Company of Bucharest has introduced an automated access system in the public parking lots of Henri Coandă and Băneasa airports, for vehicles transporting persons with reduced mobility (PRM), holders of a valid ID.

The new feature simplifies access to parking lots by automatically recognizing the license plate number, eliminating the need to obtain a parking ticket and pay the fee.

How the system works
The system uses automatic license plate recognition (LPR) technology, connected to a dedicated database. Upon arrival at the parking lot, the license plate is automatically identified and the system checks the validity of the registration. If the data is consistent, the barrier opens automatically, without additional intervention.

How to activate the facility
To obtain automated access, eligible persons or their representatives must send the necessary registration data to parcare.pmr@cnab.ro : the name and surname of the beneficiary or legal representative, the data of the PMR identification card, the vehicle registration number and contact details.

Rules of use
The original PMR ID card must be displayed visibly on the front of the vehicle during the use of the parking lot. Any change in the registration number or extension of the card’s validity must be communicated to the Bucharest National Airports Company at least 48 hours in advance, in order to update the data in the system.

If the system does not recognize the license plate number, users can call the intercom at the barrier, and the responsible personnel will perform the necessary checks on the spot and immediately authorize access.

By implementing this system, the Bucharest National Airports Company aims to reduce formalities and provide people with reduced mobility with predictable, simple and fast access to the airport infrastructure.
