The ceremony was attended by Salvatore Gabriele Imperiale, Corporate Communications Manager, Piervittorio Farabbi COO of Tirana Airport, together with the company’s local team, and WIZZ and TIA`s Ambassadors. To mark the occasion, Wizz Air distributed 20 “Golden Tickets” to passengers at the airport as a gesture of appreciation for their trust and continued support.

Wizz Air continues to strengthen its presence in the Albanian market, offering one of the largest flight networks from Tirana with 57 routes across 19 countries. For the Winter 2025 season, the airline operates several unique routes, where it is the exclusive operator for the following destinations:

  • Tirana – Larnaca
  • Tirana – Malta
  • Tirana – Malaga
  • Tirana – London Gatwick
  • Tirana – Malmö – recently extended from seasonal to year-round

Starting from March 2026, Wizz Air will further expand its offer with new seasonal destinations, including Stockholm Arlanda, Bratislava, Billund, and Vilnius, providing even more travel options for Albanian passengers and strengthening Tirana’s role as a key connecting base in the airline’s network.

For the Summer 2026 season, Wizz Air will offer almost 5 million seats with a 9% increase in capacity (over +400,000 additional seats). This growth reflects strong market demand and the increasing importance of Albania in the airline’s regional strategy.

Commenting on the milestone, Salvatore Gabriele Imperiale, Corporate Communications Manager, stated: “Reaching the milestone of 20 million passengers in Albania is far more than just a number – it is a testament to the remarkable bond we have built with this country. In recent years, Albania has become one of the most dynamic and strategic markets in our network, and we will continue to invest in new routes, additional capacity, and an ever more accessible and modern travel experience. This achievement belongs to all the passengers who choose us every day, to our dedicated people, and to all the partners who believe in the growth of Albanian aviation. And this is only the beginning: Albania will continue to fly even higher with us. Let’s WIZZ, Albania!”

Piervittorio Farabbi, COO of the Tirana International Airport added “Reaching 20 million passengers with Wizz Air in just seven years is an extraordinary achievement that places Tirana among the fastest-growing bases in the airline’s entire network. This milestone reflects the strength of our partnership and the deep commitment of our teams in meeting every operational challenge to support Wizz Air’s rapid expansion. Together, we have worked tirelessly to ensure that the airport’s infrastructure, processes and service quality evolve in line with the airline’s increasing requirements. The impact of this growth goes far beyond aviation. Every new route opens Albania to the world – attracting tourism, creating jobs, stimulating business and strengthening the country’s overall economic development.”

During the Winter 2025 season, Wizz Air is expected to carry up to 2 million passengers, maintaining its leading position as the country’s primary airline.
