Volume of cargo handled at Boryspil Airport for 11 months of 2021 hit a record 40 thousand tons
For the period from January to November 2021, Boryspil International Airport showed a positive dynamics of growth in the volume of handled cargo. Thus, for 11 months of the current year the cargo flow amounted to more than 40.3 thousand tons. This figure is a record for the last three years. Compared to the same period last year, the growth of cargo handling increased by almost 7 thousand tons, which makes 20% in percentage correlation.
“Boryspil International Airport is the largest cargo aviation hub in Ukraine. We are absolutely ready for the growth of cargo flow and we have every reason to do so: we need an infrastructure, able to accommodate high-capacity cargo aircraft and fully handle them upon arrival and departure. For this the Airport has all the necessary operation facilities,” said Oleksiy Dubrevskyy, Director General of Boryspil International Airport.
This year the volumes of cargo handling also increased in comparison with the representative 2019. Thus, for 11 months of this year, 8.1% more cargo was transported – 40.3 thousand tons versus 37.3 thousand tons in 2019.
“The Airport handles 82% of the total air cargo in our country. Therefore, one of our main tasks in the near future is to expand the cargo infrastructure. In particular, we have started a design stage to build a cargo terminal with a yearly capacity of 120,000 tons and a utility area of 15-20 thousand square meters. The implementation of this project is one of the components of the strategy of transforming the Airport into a European level hub,” said Oleksiy Dubrevskyy.
