Event Information
The 2019 edition was Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Presidential Affairs, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA), the 10th anniversary edition of SIAL Middle East, one of the largest food, beverage and hospitality events in the region, and the fifth edition of Abu Dhabi Date Palm Exhibition (ADDPE) concluded at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, facilitating a huge number of trade deals valued over AED 7.2bn during the three day event. The event drew 23,000 industry experts and unique visitors with a growth rate of 13% from last year, from more than 50 countries.
The exhibition was the biggest edition since its launch in 2010 and the event was organised by Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC) in cooperation with French “Comexposium” Group, one of the largest international exhibition and conference organisers, and in strategic partnership with ADAFSA under the theme “Defining Innovation in the Food, Beverage & Hospitality Industry”.
The total area of the exhibition increased to 22 thousand square metres, a growth rate of 22% compared with the area allocated for the previous edition, which amounted to 18 thousand square metres. The number of new exhibitors doubled to reach 16, in comparison to 8 last year. Number of participating countries have increased by 20%. Event Features increased by 67% to reach 15 features.
This year, SIAL ME witnessed an increase of 10% in the number of UAE exhibition companies that has reached to 76 exhibitor. Additionally, the total space of UAE pavilions increased to 3,373 square metres, which represent growth of 54% compared to last edition.

Hosted Buyer Programme
With the support of Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA), 550 pre-qualified, fully hosted F&B buyers from 50 countries attended SIAL Middle East 2019, with the purpose of sourcing new products, meeting with suppliers and developing new business.
HOSTED BUYER INTRODUCTION SUITE
In 2019, hosted buyers and exhibitors benefited from the Hosted Buyer Introduction Suite, which is a private dedicated space for Hosted Buyers to meet with a selected batch of exhibitors that match their sourcing requirements in 7 structured ‘Speed Networking Sessions’. The number of introductions and meetings that took place between exhibitors and hosted buyers was 5,000+.

SIAL Innovation
Innovation is the DNA of SIAL events worldwide, and Middle East is no exception. The SIAL Innovation Area showcases the world’s most innovative products, guaranteeing an experience for attendees to learn about upcoming trends in the food and beverage sector.
Only open to exhibitors and judged by XTC World Innovation, SIAL Innovation provides an excellent opportunity to showcase new innovative products to thousands of attendees. Part of the global programme, the award is only for newly introduced food and beverage products. The winning product will be displayed at all SIAL events worldwide.
Whether for foodservice, retail or the food industry, SIAL Middle East will be bringing the world’s innovative products to a display area on the exhibition floor once again this December.

UAE National Coffee Championships
The specialty coffee industry is a key part of the region’s rapidly expanding food and beverage industry and to strengthen the incredible growth of the specialty coffee scene in the Middle East, three official competitions, certified by World Coffee Events (WCE) and sanctioned by the Specialty Coffee Association will take place at SIAL Middle East.
The UAE National Coffee Championships will take place from 7th – 9th December 2021 at SIAL Middle East in Abu Dhabi, bringing together the region’s most passionate and talented baristas.
THE COMPETITIONS
The National Brewers Cup Championship highlights the craft of filter coffee brewing by hand, promoting manual coffee brewing and service excellence.In this Championship, competitors prepare and serve three individual beverages for a panel of judges. The Championship consists of two rounds: a first round and a finals round. During the first round competitors complete two coffee services – a compulsory service and an open service. For the compulsory service, competitors prepare three beverages utilizing whole bean coffee provided to them by the competition. For the open service, competitors may utilize any whole bean coffee of their choosing and must also accompany their beverage preparation with a presentation.
This competition’s rules and regulations will be based on World Coffee Events Criteria for Judging.

National Cup Tasters Championship Cup Tasters Championship is one of the most sought-after sanctioned national coffee championships in the UAE. This competition attracts baristas, coffee professionals and coffee enthusiasts. The Competition highlights expertise in tasting and distinguishing levels of quality and flavor differences in specialty coffee, such an expert in the specialty coffee industry is called a cupper. By far the most exciting of all coffee competitions, the UAE National Cup Tasters Championship judges’ cuppers on their ability to exhibit accuracy and speed when drawing on their superior palate, sense of smell, attention to detail, and experience in choosing the cup of coffee that has an almost imperceptible difference in taste, out of three cups of almost identical coffees.This Championship is based on World Coffee events rules & regulations: http://www.worldcuptasters.org/rules-regulations/

World Gourmet Show
The inaugural edition of the Abu Dhabi World Gourmet Show will take place at SIAL Middle East from 7-9 December 2021.
Michelin star chefs and the best chefs in Abu Dhabi will deliver cooking masterclasses across a range of current themes, competitors will go head-to-head to win prizes and the World Champion acrobatic pizza performer will show us his skills live on each day of the show!
This will all take place within our bespoke World Gourmet Show kitchen, featuring a hydroponic garden, liquid lab and pizza kitchen.
