The 5th International Symposium on Air Traffic Management for Civil Aviation
Event Information
2026 marks the inaugural year of the implementation of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan, and the civil aviation air traffic management (ATM) industry has entered a new stage of strategic upgrading centered on technological independence, systemic digitalization, operational intelligence and global collaboration. Based on the core requirements of building a strong transportation country and advancing the high-quality development of civil aviation, the 15th Five-Year Plan has defined the development goals for the ATM field, including independent controllability of core technologies, iterative upgrading of equipment systems, improvement of operational capacity and efficiency, and enhancement of the resilience of safety assurance, driving the in-depth evolution of the ATM system from “digital transformation” to “digital-intelligent integration”.
At present, the global innovation of ATM technology has entered a period of explosion. The integrated application of cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, the new generation of communication networks, satellite navigation augmentation, digital twin and multi-source perception fusion with the core ATM businesses is continuously deepening, which is reconstructing the technical architecture and operational mode of the ATM system. The implementation and application of new operational technologies such as Performance-Based Navigation (PBN), Trajectory-Based Operations (TBO) and remote virtual control are promoting the transformation of airspace resource allocation towards refinement and dynamization. Meanwhile, the rapid development of new aviation formats such as the low-altitude economy and Urban Air Mobility (UAM), coupled with the superposition of complex risks such as extreme weather and cyber security, have put forward higher technical requirements for the adaptability, compatibility, security and resilience of the ATM system. The industry’s development still faces in-depth problems such as insufficient breakthroughs in core technology research, inadequate cross-domain technological integration, sluggish transformation of technological achievements into practical applications, and imperfect collaborative innovation mechanisms of the industrial chain, which urgently need to be solved through technological innovation and industrial collaboration.
Against this backdrop, the 5th International Symposium on Air Traffic Management for Civil Aviation focuses on the core propositions and cutting-edge directions of technological development in the ATM field, gathering technical forces and innovative resources from government, industry, academia, research and application sectors, and building a professional platform for high-end technical exchange, display of cutting-edge achievements and industry-university-research collaborative research. With technological innovation driving the upgrading of the ATM system as the core, the conference explores the paths and practices of key ATM technology research and development, equipment system innovation, technological integration and application, and industrial ecological construction. It promotes the in-depth integration of the technological innovation chain, industrial chain and talent chain in the ATM field, and helps China build a world-class ATM system with advanced technology, independent controllability, safety and efficiency, and collaborative integration, providing solid technical support and systemic guarantee for the high-quality development of the civil aviation industry.
