AIX 2026 reflected an industry shaped by rapid developments in inflight connectivity, cabin premiumisation and an increasingly global innovation ecosystem.
The 25th edition of Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX) brought the global cabin ecosystem back to Hamburg from 14–16 April, reaffirming aircraft interiors as a key driver of differentiation in a fast-evolving aviation landscape.
Attendance increased year-on-year, with over 12,500 attendees and nearly 500 exhibitors across three days. The event brought together 185 airlines, alongside a broad international mix of suppliers, reflecting the continued globalisation of the cabin sector.
A floor full of high-quality attendees
The decision-making quality of attendees reflected the continued importance of the cabin as a key focus area for airlines, lessors and suppliers.
“AIX is a high-quality event, both in terms of its exhibitors and the calibre of attendees it attracts.” said Mingchuan Xiao, Deputy Manager at Fellat Air Lease Co. “It’s a key destination for us to explore the next generation of innovation in the industry, as well as an important opportunity to connect with OEM partners. It’s always a valuable experience and a great place to attend to stay at the forefront of what’s coming next.”
Exhibitors also reported strong engagement throughout the event, with a noticeable focus on meaningful airline discussions and programme-driven conversations.
“This has been our best show to date. The quality of airline enquiries has been particularly strong this year, and there’s a real sense that the event continues to elevate across every aspect: bigger, better, and more dynamic each time.” said Kevin Crowder, New Product Development Manager, and Carey Briggs, Head of PR and Marketing, Mirus Aircraft Seating.
A 25-year milestone for the industry
A defining thread of this year’s edition was the show’s 25-year milestone, with eight exhibitors returning for the 25th time: Collins Aerospace (formerly B/E Aerospace), Belgraver, Botany Weaving Mill, CELSO, Lantal Textiles, Rohi Stoffe, Tex Tech Industries and Percival Aviation.
“AIX and Percival have grown alongside each other over the last 25 years. While it started small 25 years ago in Cannes, it’s now the biggest event we attend, and a truly massive opportunity for networking. We take part in a wide range of industry shows, but this one stands out as the best for us. The scale, the connections, and the quality of conversations make it invaluable every year,” said Chris Bench, Managing Director of Percival Aviation.
For many long-time attendees, the emotional pull of the event remains unchanged, even as its scale continues to grow. “AIX 2026 has been as good as ever. Even after attending for many years, I still feel like a kid in a candy store,” said Shankar Prasad Mandagere, Cabin Vendor Manager at Airbus.
Alongside the AIX veterans, 93 companies made their AIX debut, supported by a strong influx of first-time visitors, signalling the event’s continued growth and expanding reach.
A cabin industry redefining itself in real time
AIX 2026 delivered a concentrated wave of strategic announcements across the cabin ecosystem, highlighting continued momentum in premiumisation, lightweight design, modular cabin architecture and certification-driven retrofit strategies.
Among the major airline announcements, flyadeal confirmed its two-class Airbus A330-900neo cabin strategy ahead of entry into service from 2027, marking the carrier’s long-haul debut and reflecting growing demand for differentiated passenger experiences across widebody fleets.
Seat innovation was also a key theme across the show. Thompson Aero Seating, Unum Aircraft Seating and PriestmanGoode/Geven all unveiled new premium seating concepts focused on greater privacy, flexibility and configurable cabin layouts, while Mirus Aircraft Seating and ZIM Aircraft Seating showcased lighter-weight seating platforms designed to improve efficiency and recyclability. Mirus also announced a major commercial win, with easyJet selecting its Kestrel seat for 237 Airbus A320neo and A321neo aircraft.
Elsewhere, exhibitors highlighted growing collaboration across materials, retrofit and certification programmes. SIMONA Boltaron and Geven expanded their partnership across multiple aircraft applications, while ALOFT AeroArchitects announced a new Boeing 737 retrofit STC programme under its MOSAIC concept, supporting more modular and scalable cabin upgrades.
BizJet Interiors Zone: where premium meets the mainstream
A major addition to AIX 2026, the first ever BizJet Interiors Zone brought together 24 exhibitors focused on VVIP and corporate aviation.
“It’s great to see the increased focus on business aviation at AIX this year. I’m hoping to see that momentum continue, particularly when it comes to the luxury touches that make business aviation truly next level,” said Antares Reis, Senior Adviser at Seabury Securities.
The zone also served as the backdrop for a series of announcements that highlighted both the maturity of the business aviation sector and its increasing influence on wider cabin development.
ALOFT marked its 50th anniversary at AIX 2026, highlighting five decades of engineering expertise alongside the continued expansion in VVIP and Head of State completions, alongside growing investment in its Innovation Lab and engineering capabilities. Meanwhile F/LIST announced the expansion of its capabilities into corporate helicopter interiors.
Critically, the zone demonstrated how business aviation-level thinking is increasingly filtering into the commercial cabin, as premiumisation continues to accelerate across aircraft types, helping attendees get a reading of the next generation of commercial cabin concepts as well as BizAv solutions.
IFEC: from connectivity to content economy and cabin intelligence
One of the major takeaways from AIX 2026 was that as connectivity becomes ubiquitous, IFEC is undergoing a clear change in purpose. The IFEC zone featured 77 exhibitors, spanning a broad spectrum of connectivity, entertainment and onboard digital solutions that are defining this next phase of IFEC.
“With in-flight connectivity now becoming a given across much of the aviation industry, the discussion has shifted from ‘how do we get passengers connected?’ to ‘what do we do now that they are?’,” said Colin Carter, CEO of CineSend. “Being part of the IFEC Zone has been valuable, placing us right at the centre of the inflight entertainment and connectivity ecosystem.”
A series of major announcements at the show further illustrated how rapidly the category is evolving. ZIPAIR revealed a fleetwide deployment of MacBook Pro as its inflight server platform integrated with Starlink connectivity, while Thales introduced its FlytEDGE Aura seatback IFE system featuring next-generation display and connectivity capabilities. Burrana and Seamless Digital showcased a concept using e-paper seatbacks as dynamic advertising surfaces, and IdeaNova launched an offline-first AI platform designed to deliver personalised entertainment and shopping experiences onboard.
Together, the launches demonstrated how IFEC is evolving beyond connectivity and content delivery towards software-driven, data-enabled cabin engagement and onboard intelligence.
A truly global industry coming into focus
AIX 2026 reinforced the growing geographical diversification of cabin innovation, with APAC and MENA regions accounting for 17% and 14% of attendees respectively.
This globalisation was reflected on the show floor, with increasing participation from emerging-market airlines, lessors and manufacturers including Jamco, ZIPAIR and India’s first seat manufacturer, Timetooth.
This shift was also reflected in new regional insights shared at the show, with AIX releasing a series of Global Cabin Concept Lab reports on the APAC and Indian markets to coincide with the event, exploring the key trends shaping cabin development across both regions. The reports are available to download via the AIX website, with a Middle East-focused edition set to follow.
PEC and Cabin Space Live: The thinking behind the show floor
Alongside the exhibition, the Passenger Experience Conference (PEC) and CabinSpace Live conference programme explored many of the trends shaping the future of cabin development, including premiumisation, sustainability, accessibility, certification challenges and digital passenger experiences. Discussions throughout the sessions reflected an industry increasingly focused on delivering differentiated, end-to-end passenger journeys while balancing operational efficiency, evolving passenger expectations and ongoing supply chain pressures.
As Andrew Doyle, Senior Consultant at Cirium, put it: “In such a dynamic market shaped by so many factors, particularly the evolving situation in the Middle East, this event is an essential touchpoint for understanding how suppliers and manufacturers are responding. There’s no better place to read the market and gather real-time insight than being immersed in the full cabin ecosystem at AIX.”
A community shaping the next 25 years of cabin innovation
Archana Dharni, Event Director of AIX, reflected that the defining feature of AIX 2026 was not just technology, scale or innovation on display, but the continuity and strength of the community behind it.
“The event was truly a celebration of everything the aircraft interiors industry has to offer, but what stood out most was the strength of the community coming together to shape the next 25 years. It was fantastic to see the industry’s momentum on full display, with so many brand-new product launches, significant airline representation and the very latest innovations on show. We look forward to welcoming the aviation interiors community back to Hamburg in 2027.”
Aircraft Interiors Expo 2027 will take place from 6-8 April 2027 at the Hamburg Messe. To register interest for the event, visit the AIX website.
