Equipment supports Air France–KLM Group fleet aircraft up to Code E following an in-depth evaluation of recovery technologies
Lisse, the Netherlands – 7 October 2026 – Air France has upgraded its Disabled Aircraft Recovery Kit with RESQTEC aircraft recovery equipment, including the innovative Rapid Recovery System (R2S). Following an in-depth evaluation and careful comparison of different recovery technologies, supported by extensive equipment testing, the airline selected RESQTEC to strengthen its recovery preparedness with modern technology for safe and efficient aircraft recovery operations.
The equipment provides the capability to support all aircraft in the Air France–KLM Group fleet up to Code E, including the Boeing 777, Airbus A350 and Boeing 787. Air France’s selection adds another International Airlines Technical Pool (IATP) aircraft recovery kit provider to the RESQTEC family. Recent airline customers include Air India, easyJet and Azerbaijan Airlines, alongside established R2S users such as Qatar Airways, Etihad Airways and Southwest Airlines.
Modern aircraft designs create specific recovery challenges, including greater lifting heights and changes in wing angle and lateral position during a lift. R2S was developed to address these challenges, combining high-pressure lifting bags with a supporting framework that follows the aircraft’s movement while maintaining stable support.
The system enables controlled, continuous lifting to the required height within the selected configuration’s capabilities, avoiding time-consuming intermediate cribbing where a single lift is possible. Its modular design supports quick assembly and flexibility across different aircraft types and recovery scenarios. These capabilities help recovery teams work efficiently while reducing the risk of secondary damage and limiting operational disruption.
“Air France’s selection of RESQTEC follows an in-depth evaluation of different recovery technologies and extensive testing of our equipment,” said Dennis Beck, Global Sales Director at RESQTEC. “We are proud to welcome another IATP aircraft recovery kit provider to the RESQTEC family. By upgrading its kit with R2S, Air France is investing in a future-proof recovery capability that combines controlled lifting, stability and operational flexibility. We look forward to supporting their team in maintaining the highest levels of aircraft recovery preparedness.”
RESQTEC provides a total approach to aircraft recovery, combining specialist equipment with recovery planning, theoretical and practical training, technical support and maintenance. Its portfolio covers lifting, debogging, tethering and moving disabled aircraft, allowing operators to bring the different stages of a recovery operation together through one solution provider.
This approach recognises that effective aircraft recovery depends on both suitable equipment and the knowledge and practical experience to use it. By combining modern technology with preparation and ongoing support, RESQTEC helps airlines and airports build a recovery capability that supports safety and business continuity.
Air France’s investment reinforces the importance of keeping aircraft recovery equipment aligned with modern fleet requirements and maintaining readiness for incidents that can disrupt airport and airline operations.
