Challenges and Opportunities for the Airport Industry in Latin America to be Addressed at Inaugural Conference

The main topics for discussion at the first edition of Airport Solutions Mexico, the inaugural event in the Airport Solutions Global Series, were announced at a press conference in Mexico today. Organised by F&E Aerospace in conjunction with E.J Krause in Mexico, the event will be held on May 3 and 4 of this year at the Centro Citibanamex in Mexico City.

The value of the global market for smart solutions at airports is predicted to increase by 10.8% to a value of $19 billion by 2024, according to Transparency Market Research. Airport Solutions Mexico 2017 offers a unique opportunity for business executives in this area to discuss the latest challenges and opportunities in the industry. The event will provide a gateway to Latin America’s largest audience, as major airport infrastructure expansion projects are supporting the growing demand created by increasing passenger traffic.

Speakers at the press conference included José Navarro, General Director of E.J Krause of México, who was accompanied by Miguel Peláez Lira, General Director of Civil Aviation of the Secretariat of Communications and Transportation; Miriam Santos, Director of Strategic Innovation & User of Centered Design; Axel Méndez Gallegos, Director of Aeromexico Corporate Strategy; and Alejandro Vilchez, representative of the Airport Group of Mexico City.

Navarro said: “We have decided to organise Airport Solutions for the first time in Mexico because it represents an excellent opportunity for those working in the airport sector today in Latin America, as it currently has an important expansion program in this area, including an infrastructure renewal program of 170 million dollars”.

He added: “In the first quarter of 2016 there was 14.8% growth in national passenger traffic, reaching over 9 million passengers while the airport network of Mexico comprises 1,385 aerodromes and 85 airports. In addition, the construction of a new and modern airport in Mexico City adds value of an approximate cost of $9.2 billion”.

In its first edition in Mexico, Airport Solutions 2017 will integrate a leading exhibition for the airport solutions industry’s purchasing chain in Latin America, and a rich conference programme. Airport Solutions Mexico 2017 is a unique congress of its kind in the region, which will address the challenges and seek solutions specific to the airport sector.

Navarro added. “Airport Solutions Mexico 2017 is a unique opportunity to bring together the entire purchasing chain of the airport solutions industry, providing a platform to connect providers with decision makers, and at the same time provide them with the opportunity to evaluate various key issues and solutions in the international program of innovative conferences”.

Visitors from all sectors of the industry are expected to attend: airport construction and design, aviation, security and emergency systems, cargo and logistics, ground operations, baggage handling, airport operators, airlines, air traffic, civil aviation authorities and service providers and air navigation will all be represented, among others.

The Airport Solutions Conference will provide attendees with the opportunity to interact with leaders of the airport sector, while offering them the opportunity to evaluate various key issues and solutions for the sector. The programme will include addresses by Eng. Raúl González, Corporate Director of Infrastructure of the Airport Group of Mexico City and Mauricio Ceballos, Associate Director of FR-EE.

Other presentations will include “Policy and regulation of the Mexican government in the airport and aviation sector”, from Jorge Romero, Deputy Director General of Air Safety, SCT ; and “Ensuring maximum connectivity within Mexico through new projects”, by Miguel Ángel Medina, Director of Strategic Planning and Project Management of Aeromexico.
The exhibition area within Airport Solutions Mexico is a unique event where the entire purchasing chain of the sector will be represented, from manufacturers, airport operators, developers, regulators and investors to end users.
