Kansai’s T2 plans to be unveiled at Passenger Terminal CONFERENCE

Press Release Date 01.02.2016

Hiroki Kitabayashi, Director, Office of International Relations and Business Development, New Kansai International Airport Company Ltd, who detailed Kansai Airport’s renovations of its duty/tax-free areas at last year’s conference, is returning this year to update delegates on the airport’s plans to further upgrade Kansai’s T2, which is dedicated to serving low-cost carriers (LCCs).

Titled ‘Drastic challenge for KIX LCCT project’, the presentation will be a key highlight of the dedicated Airport Design, Planning & Development – Middle East & Asia session, taking place on Wednesday 16 March 2016.

“Airport managers face diverse demands from full-service carriers (FSCs) and low-cost carriers (LCCs),” comments Kitabayashi. “At KIX, in addition to the flagship T1, LCC-dedicated T2 (LCCT) was opened in 2012 and expansion of LCCT is now under way. As a result of the dramatic growth in the number of foreign tourists travelling to Japan, further terminal (T3) expansion is being considered. In this presentation, the conceptual differences between the duty/tax-free area of T1 and T2 and the plan for T3 will be introduced.”

Last year, as in previous years, the Airport Design, Planning & Development – Middle East & Asia session proved to be one of the most popular, with every seat taken. Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to discover directly from the airports themselves how they plan to deal with the region’s continued unprecedented growth in passenger numbers, and ever-rising passenger expectations.
