Miami International Talks Technology At Passenger Terminal CONFERENCE

Press Release Date 11.02.2016

Maurice Jenkins, Director, Information Systems and Telecommunications at the Miami-Dade Aviation Department, who described at last year’s conference how Bluetooth beacons can be deployed at an airport to improve the passenger experience, is returning this year to discuss how Miami International Airport (MIA) uses technology to generate revenue.

Titled ‘How MIA generates revenue and passenger satisfaction through technology’, the presentation will take place during the Commercial Development, Retail, Concessions & Media session on Wednesday 16 March 2016.

“I will show how MIA has been innovative and aggressive in integrating technology into its airport system,” says Jenkins. Examples will include website innovations, internet access, shared tenant services and agreements with hotels. Jenkins will explain how MIA uses the relationship between its technology division and other airport divisions to achieve its goals, while outlining the challenges of creating new revenue streams and improving customer service using integrated technology.

Jenkins has been Director of Information Systems and Telecommunications for Miami-Dade Aviation Department for 25 years, overseeing the successful integration of a range of technology into MIA’s new South and North terminals. He has also implemented an area-wide marketing information service to hotels and convention centres using current flight information data from the airport.
