Security tops the agenda for Aéroports de Paris at Passenger Terminal CONFERENCE

Press Release Date 28.01.2016

Erick Bouraï, Head of Aviation Security Policy, Aéroports de Paris, presented at last year’s Passenger Terminal CONFERENCE, where he discussed how best to tackle the security challenges of the modern-day hub.

This year, Erick is returning to the conference to present a paper titled ‘Aviation security – can technology alone be the solution?’ on Tuesday 15 March, as part of the dedicated Aviation & Border Security, Control & Facilitation session.

“In today’s airports, the basic design and rationale of the passenger screening checkpoint is by and large influenced by concepts going back to the 1960s and 1970s,” he notes. “However, there has been a dramatic shift in passengers’ and airlines’ needs since then. Airports have been unstinting in their efforts to maintain security operations at the highest level while at the same time striving to address their clients’ needs, as well as adapting their resources and know-how to an evolving threat environment. It is time for us to re-think the process, but what should be its main component? Technology is useful but humans must be the core element.”

As part of the same Aviation & Border Security, Control & Facilitation session, Erick, who is Chairman of the ACI Europe Aviation Security Committee, will be joined by a host of security experts from aviation authorities, airports and global carriers, as well as leading security consultants.
