Updated agenda released for SMi’s Border Security 2018

SMi Group has released an updated agenda for its 10th annual Border Security conference, which takes place on 21-22 February 2018.

Now running for over a decade, SMi’s Border Security event has established its brand as one of the leading conferences that provide delegates a platform to discuss strategies to implement next generation capabilities to secure land, air and sea borders in response to growing global threats.

Day 1 will focus on the development and application of biometric technologies, European updates on border control strategies and operational case studies to defend maritime borders. Day 2 will highlight smart borders and data management, airport border security, developing regional border and migration management through next-generation capabilities.

Recent additions to the programme include representatives from the host nation. Lieutenant Colonel Dr Damiano Risi, Head of Border Police International Affairs, Border Police Division of the Italian State Police will be presenting on how the Italian State Police effectively manages irregular migration and cross-border crime. Colonel Paolo Emilio Recchia, Chief of Staff of the Air Naval Operational Headquarters – Air Naval Component of the Guardia Di Finanza will also be presenting a session on how the Italian GDF manages the task of security at sea.
