The RX230A is a fully digital MF/HF receiver designed for continuous operation in critical communication environments such as airport ground stations, ATC support networks, coastal radio stations and governmental or military communication systems.
Covering a wide frequency range from 100 kHz to 30 MHz with 1 Hz resolution, the RX230A supports all standard aeronautical and maritime HF reception modes including USB, LSB, A3E, H3E, J2A, A1A, F1B and ISB. High frequency stability and precise digital tuning allow accurate and repeatable channel selection, supporting both manual and automated operation.
The receiver incorporates advanced digital signal processing (DSP) functions, including adaptive digital noise reduction and highly selective FIR filtering, providing excellent intelligibility even in very noisy HF environments. The digital noise suppressor is independent of AGC and signal level, allowing communication signals to be detected and recovered without manual threshold adjustments, with behaviour similar to VHF systems.
Automatic and manual AGC modes are provided, with configurable attack and decay times, allowing the receiver to be optimized for both voice and data services. Sensitivity is enhanced by selectable RF gain stages and preselection filters, improving performance in both weak-signal and high-interference scenarios.
The RX230A is fully remotely controllable via Ethernet or RS-232, making it suitable for integration into remote-controlled radio sites and RoIP-based communication networks. It is compatible with external ED-137 gateways, enabling connection to IP-based Voice Communication Systems (VCS) commonly used in modern ATC infrastructures.
Local operation is available through a 7-inch touch screen with drop-down menus, virtual keyboard and mouse support, allowing direct configuration and monitoring at the equipment rack when required. Visual RF level indication is provided both digitally and via analogue-style indicators.
