Designed by Edward Barber & Jay Osgerby, Soft Wait combines the comfort of lounge seating with the efficiency, durability and flexibility required in high-traffic public environments. Developed in response to the requirements of demanding public spaces, including airports, healthcare facilities and educational environments, Soft Wait helps transform waiting time into a more comfortable and productive experience.

Flexible and space-efficient planning
The modular seating system offers exceptional planning flexibility. Based on a space-efficient 60 cm module, Soft Wait can be configured in linear, curved or circular layouts, enabling airports to optimise seating capacity while making effective use of available floor space. Its distinctive sofa-like appearance creates a more welcoming atmosphere while maintaining the robustness required for intensive daily use.

Integrated power and data connections support passengers’ connectivity needs, while tables and accessible seating options allow airports to tailor layouts to different passenger profiles and operational requirements. The system can be adapted, expanded or reconfigured over time, helping future-proof terminal environments as passenger expectations and operational demands evolve.

Every detail has been designed with maintenance and longevity in mind. Open gaps between seats and backrests facilitate cleaning by preventing the accumulation of dirt and debris, while durable materials and replaceable components help reduce maintenance efforts and extend the product’s lifecycle.
