TACITUS

Specifications

TACITUS is VoiceCollect’s flagship multimedia recording platform, purpose-built for mission-critical airport and air traffic control environments where every second of voice, radio, video and data communication must be captured accurately and made available for playback on demand. Designed around a distributed architecture, TACITUS supports an unlimited number of recording channels and scales seamlessly from a single control tower position to large, multi-site airport operations spanning tower, approach and area control, apron and ground control, and the Airport Operations Centre (AOC). It covers ATC, AOC, apron and ground control recording end-to-end, and supports both centralised recording and decentralised recording solutions, with a central archive and evaluation environment either way. TACITUS records all common audio, video and data sources in parallel, including analogue and digital radio, ATC telephony and VoIP (including EUROCAE ED-137 based systems), intercom and operator workstations, giving control towers, approach units and airport operations centres a single, unified recording environment instead of multiple disconnected systems. A web-based management interface allows administrators to configure channels, manage users and monitor recording status remotely, without requiring dedicated client software at every workstation. For incident investigation, safety reporting and controller training, TACITUS provides advanced multi-criteria search across all recorded channels and forensic, time-synchronised, multi-channel playback – allowing investigators to reconstruct exactly what was communicated, in what order, across an entire tower or control room during any given incident. Because TACITUS is deployable on standard servers or virtual machines and is independent of the underlying operating system, it integrates into existing airport and ATC communication infrastructure with minimal disruption to live operations. Built to the same reliability and data-integrity standards required by air navigation service providers and airport operators worldwide, TACITUS gives airports a dependable, legally admissible record of ATC and ground communications – supporting safety investigations, regulatory compliance and continuous operational improvement across the airfield.
