A-ICE, the specialist aviation IT solutions provider, has been selected as a software partner by Aeroitalia, Italy’s newest airline.

Under the terms of the partnership, technology from A-ICE’s flexible cloud-based software portfolio is playing a key role in supporting Aeroitalia’s recently launched route between Milan Bergamo and London Heathrow.

The products deployed by Aeroitalia are A-DCS, A-ICE’s departure control system, and A-WBS, the company’s solution for securely controlling weight and balance. To meet the airline’s requirements, A-ICE had to demonstrate seamless integration of their software with baggage reconciliation systems at London Heathrow, CUTE systems and traffic control systems. Implementation was largely conducted remotely from A-ICE’s headquarters in Rome, with additional on-site support in the project’s final testing stages.

Operating from Forli Airport since its launch in July 2022, Aeroitalia operates charter and regional scheduled routes across Europe. More recently it has established a based at Milan Bergamo, from where it began flying to London Heathrow on 8 December.

Carlos Fernandes, UK Sales Manager at A-ICE, said: “It has been a privilege to support Aeroitalia on the latest phase of their expansion. This is a dynamic new airline, making them an excellent fit for our flexible cloud-based solutions. We hope to build on the strength of this partnership into the future.”

Massimiliano Zema, IT Manager at Aeroitalia, said: “The commitment, support and expertise of the A-ICE team has been crucial in delivering the system enhancements necessary to accommodate our scheduled expansion to London Heathrow. A-ICE has consistently demonstrated a clear understanding of the specific IT challenges facing a growth business such as ours, and they have been able to answer those challenges through the straightforward implementation of effective, efficient technology.”

Aeroitalia was founded by Marc Bourgade and German Efromovich, and is led by Chief Executive Officer Gaetano Intrieri. The airline intends to add two further aircraft to its fleet of three Boeing 737-800s by summer 2023 to support its ongoing plans for expansion.

Claudio Ferrari, Founder and Commercial Director of A-ICE, said: “We are delighted that our technology has been selected by Aeroitalia. For airline partners in today’s market, being able to respond with agility to market opportunities means being able to rely on a robust yet flexible technology platform, and our cloud-based portfolio of solutions has been designed to deliver on that premise.”
