Graz, AUSTRIA, Ankasa Pura II, the Indonesian Air Traffic Service Administration for the western airspace administration in Indonesia, has awarded the contract for the installation of an integrated A-SMGCS System at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta, to AviBit and ERA S.A.
After tendering, the contract was finally awarded to the most compliant and most competitive tenderer. The new integrated system will be installed in cooperation by AviBit and ERA S.A. The integrated A-SMGCS will be the main system for ground surveillance at all weather conditions, while reducing costs and improving safety for ground operation. Soekarno-Hatta International Airport is worldwide ranked no 12 according to passenger traffic with 52 Million Passengers and about 500.000 aircraft movements per annum. The traffic increased over the year 2011 of about 19% over the year 2012. Indonesia with 280 million in population is the new economic power house in Asia Pacific with increasing passenger traffic of 12% in average per year. Due to the growth forecasts, the ATM systems need upgrades in order to accommodate the air traffic in Indonesia’s airspace, larger than the airspace in whole Europe.
Indonesia’s Hub Airport Jakarta, will increase its capacity over the coming five years to a capacity of 80 million passengers by building a 3rd Runway and a new Terminal. It is the fastest growing airport at the moment in the world.
The AviBit Delivery
AviBit and ERA have been awarded as subcontractors to a local main contractor for this project which includes the delivery of AviBit´s A-SMGCS ACEMAX® and one Multilateration system from ERA including 20 sensors. This is the first phase of four phases in total to upgrade the ATM System at the largest and fastest growing airport in Indonesia. The scope of the project covered system integration and data fusion of a Multilateration and one approach radar. “The experience in systems integration and the long term partnership with ERA, have been key in winning this contract”, says Mag(FH). The project will be implemented over a period of 14 month and includes the integration of 6 subsystems including the new ERA M-LAT System. Furthermore, AviBit will also provide the project management for the whole project.
