Collaboration – a word frequently used in the airport industry and for sure a very important one! It´s running like a red thread also in this newsletter, covering topics like climate discussions, airport congestion, silo structure and system integration where working together towards common goals for efficiency, safety and sustainability is essential. We visit a truly collaborative event; an A-CDM-workshop in Brazil and we share examples of some recent airport projects where we work together with the airports to enhance Airport Collaborative Decision Making in France and UK.

In an increasingly globalized world, international interconnectivity is key and a given for any thriving or expanding society. A well operating airport hub with supporting connecting commuter airports is essential to support the economy of a large metro or a large part of a country. With leisure and business air travel on the rise, airports are facing multiple congestion challenges that need to be managed both in the short and long term. In many cases, airport operators are running out of options resulting in overloaded infrastructure.

Climate change is a challenge the entire world must face with ambition and drive, and the aviation industry is no exception. At the 39th ICAO Assembly in Montreal, the world’s governments met to discuss the agreement on the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation.

Birmingham Airport has chosen ADB SAFEGATE, to install its Integrated Tower Solution to enable Airport Collaborative Decision Making (A-CDM) and improve real-time information shared between airport stakeholders ─ airlines, ground handlers and air traffic control. Greater predictability is only one of the expected outcomes.

ADB SAFEGATE will introduce a brand new integrated management solution at the French airports Charles de Gaulle (CDG) and ORLY (ORY). As a component of the A-CDM process, new apron management systems and docking systems will be implemented at both airports with a potential of up to 450 units, maintained and supported to enhance airport throughput, tackle congestion, optimize airport transit process efficiency and strengthen the Airport Collaborative Decision Making (A-CDM) process and the predictability for the Network Manager at these airports.

Did you know that international passenger traffic in Latin America grew at a higher rate than the world’s average last year? When Guarulhos International Airport (GRU) in São Paulo hosted an ICAO A-CDM Implementation Workshop and Seminar, ADB SAFEGATE and our Stephen O’Flynn was there to present on the subject key to deal with growth, performance matters and potential capacity constraints.

Australia’s biggest annual aviation conference and exhibition will take place from 21st November to 25th November 2016 at the National Convention Centre Canberra in Canberra, Australia. ADB SAFEGATE will be there to exhibit solutions for Airport Performance and present on how to get the best results and maximum value when working in airfield projects.
