AGL monitoring: the perfect formula lands at DXB GLOBAL AIRPORT LEADERS’ FORUM

Innovation that delivers sustainability and the prerequisite for Digital Towers.

Do not miss the panel at GALF on the 24th May h 1.30-2.30 pm Conference room 1!

Essentially the innovation is communicating data through optical fiber among modules that are connected to the airfield ground lights AGL.

Sceptics would say that powerline communication is less expensive. On the contrary!

First, each module consumption is 20 times higher*, secondly it suffers interferences and severe installation environment leading to frequent maintenance interventions. And which is the amount of fixed maintenance costs of operators on airfield searching for the failure along the runway, with their eyes?

Likewise, the worries about optical fiber cost are not well-founded: it transmits data through light, so there is no current, no dedicated conduit required, no isolation requirements, not even interferences issues then it can be laid together with primary.

In other words, the cost of the cable is worth the shifting to a new technology that will last for the next 30 years and that will deliver a sustainable rehab together with the highest efficiency.

In this perspective, efficiency lies in the feedback time of the AGL monitoring and control system. I wonder, how could ATC be managed by remote towers if ground lights or RWY Incursion sensors are not able to send feedback in a second?

Clearly power line communication obsolescence is right under our noses: no feedback from AGL lights, low isolation problems, no detection of the malfunctioning exact point, high energy consumption levels, 15 minutes for a runway overall change whereas MIA SYSTEM needs just 10 seconds.

As a result of our experience on field with power line communication facing cabling issue, isolation loss and interferences, firmware upload on field, just to mention some of the most commons, our company efforts have been focused on educational communication.

This commitment has led to the Airportshow recognition that MC SOLUTIONS has a real innovation to show to the world and has given us the privilege to be invited as speaker in the GALF.

Thus, it is an honor for us to announce our participation in the Airportshow 2021 and in the Global Airport Leaders’ Forum -conference room 1- as speaker on the 24th May in the panel 1.30-2.30pm- Decarbonising Aviation through Improvements in ATC.

Conclusively, if first AGL monitoring and control has been conceived as a mere maintenance tool, now it is indeed a matter of safety and compulsory efficiency.
