Copperchase would like to thank Isle of Man Airport for the opportunity to supply and install the Copperchase ATC Data System in their new control tower which is scheduled to become operational in early September 2010. IOM Airport employed NATS as the project manager for this work and Copperchase would like to add their thanks for the assistance that NATS provided to both parties.

Copperchase ATC Data Systems have been in use in the UK and overseas for some years and has proved to be extremely reliable. Our solution for the Isle of Man utilises a dual processor configuration with automatic changeover for resilience.

The solution provided by Copperchase is based on the provision of fully rack mounted server configuration installed in the equipment room and remotely linked to Monitors, Keyboards, Mice and Flight Strip Printers. The system supports terminals in the Visual Control room (VCR) and Approach (ACR).

The Isle of Man ATC Data System solution includes Flight Data Management (FDMS) and the Copperchase ATIS that broadcast weather and other appropriate operational information over VHF and PSTN. Meteorological information is also sent to the Copperchase METSYS for display of current IOM meteorological information.

The Copperchase Information Display System (IDS) has been included to provide the necessary web based system for access by ATS staff. This allows ATC to have efficient access from each working position to current aeronautical information without the necessity of paper or backlit displays.

As part of the project Copperchase also provided engineer and operator training for IOM Airport.
