Combining work and family: Award handed over in Berlin

Today, DFS received an award for its work on laying the foundations for the creation of family-friendly policies to support staff in combining work and family. The award was handed over by an organisation called berufundfamilie gGmbH, which was set up on the initiative of the non-profit Hertie Foundation. DFS can now count itself as one of the 322 companies, institutions and universities that were successfully certified after undergoing an audit of their HR policies in the last 12 months.

Finding a balance between the demands of work and the demands of family is an important issue in today's society – an issue which demands the attention of all employers. The certificates were handed over by Caren Marks (Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth), Iris Gleicke (Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy) and Frank-Jürgen Weise (Chairman of the Board of the non-profit Hertie Foundation).

The DFS Board of Managing Directors expressed their pride in receiving the award. "DFS has always been a progressive, employee-friendly company," says DFS CEO Klaus-Dieter Scheurle, "I am very happy that we have received this award in recognition of our family-friendly policies today."
