Confirming its status as a leading international provider to the airport and airfield industry, atg airports has been contracted by Lucebit GmbH on behalf of Fraport AG – the owner and manager of Frankfurt Airport – to supply its largest order ever of LED guidance signs and replacement facias for Germany’s busiest air transportation gateway.

Clearway LED Guidance

Designed and manufactured in-house, the contract for Germany’s busiest airport for passenger traffic and the third busiest in Europe, comprises in excess of 600 separate signs from the atg airports’ specified Clearway LED Guidance range. In addition to the mandatory and information signs supplied as part of the project, atg’s Clearway range includes RHAG markers, IRDM and Stand Number Indicator Boards, all of which are available with an LED light source.

Working against a challenging programme and scheduled for completion in May 2010, this substantial and significant contract is part of a major investment in the infrastructure of Frankfurt airport to enable it to cater for increased traffic movements and to accommodate new aircraft type such as the A380 airbus.

Installers for the project are Lucebit GmbH, suppliers of integral system solutions for airfield lighting and who have worked successfully in partnership with atg at airports across Central and Eastern Europe.

Clearway Signs

atg airports’ range of Clearway signs are economical to operate with low electrical power demand and minimum maintenance, and boast a life expectancy in excess of 75,000 hours. Modular in construction with a commonality of mechanical and electrical equipment throughout the range of sizes, the multi-redundant LED configuration maintains visibility in the event of individual LED failure.

All models boast easy to remove fascias with no tool requirements and offer operating temperatures of -25 to +55 degrees. LED benefits include energy savings against Fluorescent of between -20 and  50%, energy savings against Tungsten Halogen of -67 to 86%, a reduction in carbon footprint and a provide uniform and consistent light output.
