The future for non-instrumental approach aerodromes, small regional airports,  private, and military support airstrips is set to be revolutionised following the launch of PEARL – a unique packaged elevated airfield runway LED lighting system from the leading UK manufacturer of airfield solutions, atg airports.
 
Unlike any other system currently available, PEARL provides an off-the-shelf, low cost and compact LED lighting solution that will now enable private and military support airstrips to accommodate flights under VMC at any time of day. Combined with the recent changes to legislation by the CAA that now enable flying training organisations to operate from any suitable licensed or unlicensed aerodrome day or night, the demand for this product is expected to soar.
 
The eco friendly, low power consumption PEARL system features impressive LED’s offering high efficiency illumination and lasting 60,000 hours, with a visual range of up to one minute before touchdown. Requiring practically no assembly, this flexible system can be supplied in a re-usable container and can be tailored to individual runways, providing pilots with safe and reliable guidance during approach and landing.

Installing the system is simple and cost effective and eliminates the need for large specialized work crews, lengthy construction delays and costly permit requirements. Able to be deployed on both grass and tarmac strips, the lights operate individually, eliminating concern over lighting loss due to cable malfunction and damage.

The PEARL package comprises a 1.4 Amp DC power supply with optional two 500W outputs, interleaved circuits using standard components, a 60m cable with FAA L-823 factory moulded connectors and 3 step light dimming with optional remote control. The compact and lightweight design is easy and quick to install and there are two standard fitting options available.
