Airport Baggage Handling, Screening, Sorting & Drop Off Systems

Company Alstef Group
Date 20.11.2012

Dzaoudzi Airport in Mayotte will see the opening of a brand new passenger terminal in 2013.  This new terminal has become necessary since the Island of Mayotte had to upgrade its public facilities after it became an overseas département of France.

ALSTEF has been awarded the installation of the Baggage Handling System by SNC-LAVALIN, who are responsible for the construction and management of the new airport.

This Baggage Handling System will include:

  • For Departures: a group of check-in stations, 2 baggage screening lines, including one for oversize bags, a line for transfers, and a sorting area.
  • For Arrivals: 3 arrival lines, including one for oversize bags.

The complete system will be built in accordance will the most recent European and French standards.  It will greatly improve the safety of all flights departing from the Island of Mayotte.

The new terminal of Dzaoudzi Mayotte Airport is scheduled to be operational in 2013, at the same time as the one at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Airport in Mauritus, where ALSTEF will also install a state-of-the-art Baggage Handling System.

These 2 flagship projects confirm ALSTEF’s determination to establish themselves as a long-term business partner in the Indian Ocean.
