Airport Baggage Handling, Screening, Sorting & Drop Off Systems

Company Alstef Group
Date 17.06.2015

Alstef has recently won baggage sorting and handling contracts for 3 large-scale projects. The first project will be carried out in Russia for the new Nizhny Novgorod terminal. It was obtained after three years of commercial prospecting in this country.  The second contract was won in a consortium with the BEUMER Group, for Terminal 2E at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport.  The third project is for Lyon Saint-Exupéry Airport, where Alstef will supply all equipment for baggage check-in, control and automated sorting in the future Terminal 1.

At the end of May, Alstef had already reached last year’s orders of 45 million Euros. Total orders (airport and logistics systems) are forecast to go from 53 to 85 million Euros this year, almost double the figure for 2014.  The French SME specialized in the design and realisation of automated handling and storage systems is expected to achieve exceptional results in 2015, in spite of a difficult national economic environment.

Pierre Marol, President of Alstef, said that during the difficult years, Alstef kept achieving   positive results and maintained its skill base. “We never stopped investing in R&D to improve our design tools and develop new products.  We are now ready for a period of dynamic growth driven by our baggage and pallet handling markets”.

Thanks to the three orders obtained at the beginning of this year, and new business opportunities, Alstef will increase its current workforce of 180 persons and recruit some forty employees, mostly Engineers and Technicians, to work in its engineering department, monitor work site activities, manage projects and supervise maintenance of installations.  On this basis, Alstef, who already employs about forty persons based at Paris CDG airport for the ongoing baggage sorting contracts, will add ten full time Technicians to its current team to assure the maintenance of the new system in Terminal 2E.  At Lyon Saint-Exupéry, Alstef will hire about ten Technicians to assure the maintenance of the baggage sorting installations in Terminal 2 and in the future Terminal 1.

At its site in Boigny sur Bionne (Loiret), Alstef plans to invest to increase its production capacities.  The surface area of the conveyor assembly department could be doubled (from 1,200 to 2,400 m²) by expanding the existing workshop and building a second one on a new land, which purchase is under negotiation with the local authorities.
