Airport Baggage Handling, Screening, Sorting & Drop Off Systems

Company Alstef Group
Date 30.10.2012

Following the success of BAGXPress®, the first baggage drop-off machine, in trial at Paris Orly West since November 2011, Aéroports de Paris undertook the reorganization of the baggage drop-off area in Hall 2 in order to improve the passenger flow.

Some modifications will be made to the buildings  in order to install 5 additional BAGXpress® machines.  ADP also asked ALSTEF to replace the conveyor system.

BAGXPress® has been designed by ALSTEF and Aéroports de Paris with the aim of improving passenger services and  helping airlines decrease their operating costs.

Its development started about 3 years ago (with the manufacturing of several prototypes), and was undertaken in close partnership between Alstef and ADP.  ADP was aware of their clients’ expectations (airlines and passengers), and knew the airport rules and processes. Their focus on passenger experience contributed to the design of an ergonomic and user-friendly machine. ALSTEF has extensive expertise in automated baggage handling systems and know-how in machines requiring high throughput.

BAGXPress® has been designed to provide the quickest check-in process, with up to 120 bags per hour. Surveys show that passengers are very satisfied with BAGXpress®. They appreciate this simple to use machine thanks to its ergonomic modern design, and most of all they like the fact that it is extremely fast.

The new area will open by the end of the year, in time for the Holiday.
