Crisplant – part of BEUMER Group and a leading global supplier of automated baggage handling systems – will outline its integration skills for automated, high speed baggage handling and temporary terminal solutions, in the Blue Pavilion, at TranspoQuip Latin America 2011, in the Expo Center Norte, São Paulo, Brazil from the 22nd to 24th November.

Crisplant’s temporary terminal solutions are designed as modular systems which allow the airport to quickly install a tailor-made terminal which exactly matches the required passenger capacity, and can be supported by on-going contracts for Crisplant to operate and maintain the temporary terminal systems. Using a combination of temporary terminal solutions and state-of-the-art baggage handling systems, could allow Brazil to prepare for the surge in passenger numbers forecast for major sporting events, and to support future growth predictions as well as new generations of aircraft.

An on-stand video will demonstrate a fully-integrated advanced baggage handling system based on the industry’s most energy-efficient LS-4000E high-speed sorter. The system, which was installed by Crisplant at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport’s International Terminal, integrates a number of Crisplant baggage handling technologies which are all monitored and controlled by Crisplant’s leading-edge Sort Allocation Computer (SAC) control system.

The LS-4000E sorter, which was developed by Crisplant, reduces energy consumption by 75% compared to sorters using conventional motor technology. The sorter is already in operation as part of an eco-friendly baggage handling system in Cancún International Airport, Mexico, and is also currently being installed by Crisplant in South America’s El Dorado International Airport in Bogota, Colombia.

Delegates to TranspoQuip, will also be able to explore with Crisplant experts, the process by which Crisplant helped O.R. Tambo Airport, Johannesburg, to prepare for the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™, with the installation of a new baggage handling system designed to increase the airport’s capacity by 50%.

Klaus Schäfer, Crisplant Managing Director, adds, “The 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™ and 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janiero, will place significant demands on Brazil’s airport capacity and security. The high profile of these world-class sporting events means that the airports’ baggage handling systems must guarantee 24/7 availability whilst meeting a surge in passenger numbers and supporting future growth and demands for more robust inline baggage screening processes.”

BEUMER has been working with major customers in Brazil for 30 years, whilst Crisplant has almost four decades of experience of developing and installing advanced baggage handling systems for major airports around the world.
