Airport Baggage Sorting, Tracking and Monitoring

SELEX Elsag, a Finmeccanica company, is participating in Farnborough International 2012 from the 9th to the 15th of July, with an exhibition area within the Finmeccanica stand (Pavillion OE1). The company will present the following capabilities:

• within the “Security” area: dedicated to Cyber security & defense – where the company, as member of Finmeccanica Cyber Solution team, was awarded a very important contract at the beginning of 2012 with the NATO agency NC3A for the Alliance Cyber security and defense – the cyber threat intelligence capability, based on an innovative High Performance Computing platform and specific algorithms that examine network behaviour tendencies, collect and analyze data from publicly available sources to produce actionable intelligence and to prevent cyber attacks; Auto-Detector, full suite of products based on proprietary technologies for the automatic identification of vehicles license plates. Within this area, SELEX Elsag also presents a Security Demo integrating: PERSEUS CSP (Communication Service Platform) that ensures the integration of different access technologies – including LTE and 4G – for voice, video and multi-media communications in any mission and operational critical situation; ElettraSuite, the TETRA products line for organizations that require immediate, reliable and secure communications; the security and surveillance management system S3I – Integrated Video Surveillance; the hand-held device PSS – Patrol Support System combining biometric fingerprint scanner, smart card reader, tag detector for electronic passports, micro-cameras for license plate recognition

• within the “AIR” area: WBDL, new generation high performance Ku-Band wide band data link solution for Line-of-Sight (LoS) links between airborne vehicles and ground stations; the 1090 Extended Squitter for ADS-B/TIS-B applications, ES 1090, able to fly onboard of ultra light aircraft and gliders; the avionic radio system SP-2310 for the supply of HF voice and data communications; the multi-band airborne radio family SRT-651 that supports secure and plain voice/data communications; the next generation ground responder IFF (Identification Friend or Foe) M 427 for naval and fixed/rotary-wing platforms; and the LOAM (Laser Obstacle Avoidance & Monitoring) system for helicopters, to detect and avoid airborne threadlike obstacles at low altitude

• within the “LAND” area: the SWaveTM HH single-channel SDR (Software Defined Radio), that supplies wideband secure voice/data services for current and future tactical needs; CORVO-H, that provides “electronic armour” to security forces against Radio Frequency- initiated Remotely Controlled Improvised Explosive Device threats; and the tactical manpack COMINT Direction Finding system CORVO-ACQUIRE able to guarantee mission-critical intelligence through real-time monitoring and analysis of signals.

In addition, within the Finmeccanica “CENTRAL” area, that will be dedicated to major state-of-the-art developments in the field of modelling & simulation, SELEX Elsag will feature strongly thanks to the SVC Network Simulator. This powerful tool is dedicated to communication networks planning and analysis. Its applications range from new solutions and architectures evaluation for CD&E (Concept Development and Experimentation) activities to acquisition support and training.
