Airport Ceiling, Lighting and Daylight systems

Company durlum GmbH
Date 01.03.2010

durlum has just taken six months to successfully conduct its first large-scale project in India managing all logistical requirements smoothly.

The project "Delhi International Airport” [Terminal 3 with national and international piers] was the first major project with metal ceilings for durlum in India. Once the new Terminal 3 opens up this year, Delhi International Airport will be the sixth largest airport in the world. The project itself posed a particular logistical challenge as durlum had to handle more than 130.000sqm of purpose-built metal ceilings in a specified period of only six months. In addition, durlum was not only responsible for the supply-side, but also for the design, construction management and supervision of installation. In order to manage the large order volume durlum set-up a dedicated project team with local and international staff, which assured the smooth and successful completion of the project. Our just recently found subsidiary durlum India Pvt. Ltd. supported the project actively by processing and modifying various parts of our ceiling systems at our facilities near Delhi.

India, with a population of 1.16 billion, is currently investing heavily in much needed infrastructure such as roads, power stations, subway systems and airports and will become a more and more important market for durlum.
