Airport Communication, Environmental control, and Detection Technologies

The KeTech Group’s knowledge and in-depth understanding of the Rail sector were clearly demonstrated at Infrarail, 13-15th April, NEC Birmingham, where they showcased their latest communication, information and detection technology.

KeTech has worked within the railway communication and information sector for many years and has developed a range of innovative products and systems that address the specific needs and challenges of this exacting environment.

One such area of technology is KeTech’s Platform-to-Train multi-channel transmission system. Based on the ONLY proven, LUL and HMRI approved leaky feeder technology, the system allows the Train Operator to view high quality, real-time images of the critical platform / train interface. The system is configured to provide continuous coverage until the last carriage is clear of the platform, ensuring safe train departure.

Another piece of technology that attracted much interest at the show was KeTech’s wireless Public Address System, designed to greatly reduce costs and disruption levels associated with PA installations. Providing the same operational benefits as traditional railway PA systems, the KeTech digital wireless version uniquely takes a line level audio signal from the local controller and transmits to the receiver located in the wireless speakers along the platforms or concourse areas. The key advantage of this system is that it does not require along-platform or cross-track cabling, nor incabinet wiring, resulting in considerably reduced installation costs and limited operational disruption.

Other rail specific communication systems that captured the attention of the visitors to this busy exhibition, included Train Management Displays, Customer Information Systems and the KeTech Integrated Management and Security System. By interfacing to multiple subsystems this flexible system allows the operator to seamlessly switch between CCTV, PA, Customer Information Systems, Help Points and SCADA monitoring whilst enabling the functionality of one subsystem to be triggered or controlled by actions in another. KeTech, as UK partner of OTN Systems Ltd., are also able to design and supply OTN solutions to the Rail/Metro sector to provide secure transmission systems for both legacy data protocols and new IP interfaces.
