Digital signage used in key traffic areas to broadcast educational, event and campus information in real-time

In a top-ranking research and education institution recognized around the world for its reputation in academic excellence, Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale (EPFL) located in Lausanne, Switzerland utilizes an advanced digital signage system. Switzerland based specialist partner, Jump Union supplied SpinetiX HMP100TM Hyper Media Players which are integrated with large flat panel screens to manage educational, event and campus information. Expected to comprise thirty screens and information points, the system is located across various buildings in hall and cafeteria areas attended by thousands of students, staff and visitors during semester times.

In speaking about the requirement of this digital signage system, Natalie Meystre, KIS, Knowledge Information Services (DIT- VPAI) Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale of Lausanne explains: “We needed a reliable and flexible digital signage system to provide information about conferences, special courses, debates, association events and activities and which was located in central traffic points. The system also serves to publish academic reminders such as end of semester information and paper deadlines.”

Content for the digital signage system is mainly managed by the institutes IT department over an intranet web page. It is updated easily and quickly by campus staff who are able to manage images and check the accuracy of information. This requires less that an hour a day to manage and is instantly updated across all the screens.”
