As the first western company, MEA already put into operation a factory for the production of polymer concrete drainage gutters in the year 2007. In the meantime competitors are also following, but since we developed the place of business at an earlier time, we can now use the advantages of the location and develop our initial successes. Our factory is located in Kunshan, an ultramodern large city with more than 1 million inhabitants, which is only 1.5 hours away from Shanghai.

The city lies in the Yangtse-Delta, has two lakes and 62 rivers and channels altogether, and is known for its extraordinary water resources. Nearly one third of the city surface consists of water. Due to its economic potential, the metropolis falls under the top 100 Chinese cities, and is considered as a first-class address for foreign investors. The local government places high value on pollution control, especially regarding the protection of water resources. Accordingly, it is no surprise that Kunshan has repeatedly won awards for its excellent environmental policy, has been distinguished as a National Ecological Model and been elected China's Most Lovely City. Thus, it was to all intents and purposes a good decision of MEA to produce its drainage gutters in Kunshan.

In the initial phase, both the necessary funds and the manufacturing technology have been provided by sources in Europe. The management has supported the construction of the location locally. Meanwhile, MEA China is increasingly becoming independent. The company already obtained very good neconomic results in 2009. The scope of products is being adapted to special Chinese requirements. Finally, a young, talented and extremely committed native leadership team is being established under the responsibility of the MEA general manager.
Thus, optimal conditions were created to continue MEA successes also in China.
