Boon Edam, a leading expert in security access solutions, is proud to announce that their Airport Swinglane access gate is the first self-boarding security lane to be officially certified for use on the AirportConnect CUTE/CUPPS Platform by SITA and by the Association of European Airlines (AEA) according to the latest AEA 2009 regulations and standards. This certification recognises the high quality and exceptional security standards that have been achieved by the Airport Swinglane.

Boon Edam developed this ‘new generation’ self-boarding gate in conjunction with airlines, airports, SITA – the leading specialist in air transport communications and IT solutions – and others in the airport and airline industry. The Airport Swinglane complements the IATA Fast Travel initiatives to improve passenger self-service, giving the passenger more control over their journey.  Several pilot projects were carried out during 2010, seeing a total of over 10,000 passengers board flights through the Airport Swinglane security gate. The results were shorter passenger queues, ground personnel being freed up for more customer-focussed tasks, enhanced passenger experience and some flights were ready for departure ahead of schedule.

The sophisticated Airport Swinglane is specifically designed to allow passengers to have a quick and efficient boarding process without jeopardising strict security requirements. It can be used in a variety of airport terminal security situations, including boarding and transfers, all with the strictest security. Functioning as a self-boarding security gate, passengers take control of the boarding process, swiping their boarding passes to enable access to the aircraft.
