Airport EU Validation/Aviation Web Based Training

Serving the city of Kochi located in Southern India, the most densely populated city in the state of Kerala with its metro region boasting a population of over 2 million, Cochin International Airport is bucking the current dip in Indian airport passenger numbers.

With the 46 airports that submit their respective traffic results to the Airports Authority of India (AAI) website posting cumulative negative growth of 2% in the 12 months up to March 2013, the fact that Cochin has delivered a 3.5% increase in its passenger numbers over the same period up to 4.9 million, is quite astonishing. With Q1 2013 statistics indicate growth up to 9%, Cochin International Airport looks set to break the record number of five million annual passengers this year.

To better meet the increased requirements in the field of security Cochin International Airport has decided to use STI´s world-renowned training software OTS® (Operator Training System) to train their security staff in the field of X-ray image evaluation. The modular approach of OTS® allowed Cochin Airport to compose an OTS® classroom with one trainer- and twenty additional user licenses to meet their specific needs. With this state-of-the-art OTS® classroom Cochin´s security staff can now be efficiently trained on cabin baggage, hold baggage as well as air cargo parcels. The unique image quality within the OTS® X-ray simulators and the availability of all image enhancement functions guarantee an authentic and above all a successful training.

“India is a very interesting market for us due to the fast developing aviation market which is about to rise significantly over the next years. We are proud that Cochin International Airport has decided to start using OTS® for their increased training demands”, STI Managing Director Wolfgang Glassner, responsible for STI´s global sales activities, states.
