Company Abacus Lighting
Date 26.09.2012

Abacus have won the lighting contract for Mauritius International Airport at Plaine Magnien in Mauritius. The airport also known as Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport after the first Mauritius Prime Minister operates to more than 35 worldwide destinations. Abacus installed 6 bespoke 28 metre Raising and Lowering Winch masts with each of the 42 Rhea floodlighting headframes containing 8 floodlights.

Abacus Project Manager, Zhang Wei said, “We had to meet very particular design requirements of our customer and our ability and experience meant that we were able to modify our proven raising and lowering winch system masts to meet the site programme requirements.”

The Abacus Raising and Lowering Winch system masts are specialised as the head frame can be lowered to the ground using a manual or electrically powered winch system enabling the installation and maintenance to be carried out in safety at ground level.  Due to the winch systems being already installed in the mast this reduces maintenance costs for customers as access equipment is not needed. Abacus have also installed these specialised masts at Colombo Port in Sri Lanka.

Abacus are market leaders in airports and their equipment can be found in over 70 airports around the world.
