Self closing gates for safe access

Kee Safety offers easy to install self closing safety gates designed to prevent a fall when not in use. Our safety gates are spring loaded so they can automatically close when not in use. Kee Safety’s self closing gates comply with the HSE guidelines in protecting ladder access points, roof hatches and open voids.

Self closing gates are considered to be the preferred solution and are a requirement of BS EN 14122 Safety of machinery. Part 3 Permanent means of access to machinery stairways, stepladders, guard-rails and Part 4 Fixed Ladders and BS 4211: 2004 + A1 2008 which recommends that where a ladder breaks existing handrail a self closing gate should be fitted.

The benefit of these types of access is that they are spring loaded so automatically close behind the user.  This overcomes the problem of user error and ensures that voids are not created when accessing a roof or other dangerous areas.  Gates can also be easily retrofitted to existing systems.  Our gates are supplied at a standard 1m width but can be easily cut to the correct width on site if required and installed to open in any direction.

Safe access and egress on ladders, roof hatches, walkways and industrial machinery is important. When you are considering safe access from a stairway, ladder or guardrail, self closing gates will allow you to follow best practice and comply with current standards.

Kee Safety’s self closing gates have been designed to work with our KeeGuard Roof Edge Protection System and other types of Safety Barriers. More information on Kee Safety’s spring loaded safety gates is available on our Products pages.
