ARINC Incorporated today announced that its global IT support and service subsidiary, ARINC Managed Services (AMS), has successfully completed a major systems integration project for Air Canada to support its new state-of-the-art global Operations Centre (OC) in Brampton, Ontario. The project was completed on-schedule and on-budget.

The $60-million project will serve as a centralized control center for Air Canada’s day-to-day operations and will monitor over 600 flights per day. The OC is expected to improve Air Canada’s operational capabilities while also increasing efficiency.

In addition to acting as Air Canada’s in-house experts on evaluating and recommending radio and telephone dispatching systems, AMS provided system engineering and support services to integrate Air Canada’s existing air-to-ground and ground-to-ground communications with the new system. AMS will provide on-going 24 x 7, 365 day support for the new operations center.

“AMS’s system integration and engineering support has been invaluable,” said Catherine Brassard, Senior Director of Operations, Excellence and Continuous Improvement at Air Canada.  “We believe the OC will significantly improve Air Canada’s operations and we consider ARINC to be a trusted partner in helping us accomplish this goal.”

The systems integration work completed by AMS was in addition to its existing radio maintenance and asset management responsibilities. AMS currently provides Air Canada with maintenance for all its UHF and VHF remote radio equipment. AMS has also established a depot maintenance facility for Air Canada’s radio equipment, providing centralized inventory control as well as frequency management, repairs, and maintenance services.  Air Canada has been an ARINC customer since March 1959.

"Air Canada is well known as one of the world's premier airlines for good reason,” said Christopher Forrest, Managing Director at ARINC Managed Services. “The new OC will provide significant benefits to both the airline and its passengers. ARINC is committed to delivering best-of-breed radio solutions for our customers and we look forward to continuing to work with Air Canada, our long-time and valued customer.”
