True IT integration and operational streamlining for Dusseldorf Airport’s ground handling subsidiary

As already reported in autumn 2009, topsystem and its partner Inform signed contracts with SITA Airport IT for comprehensive software installation projects with both Dusseldorf International Airport and its ground handling subsidiary FDGHG.

Now the complete package for the optimisation of ground handling operations has been successfully commissioned into operation at Germany’s third-largest airport with about 18 million passengers per year. The system covers the whole chain of processes from contract management, service recording and billing up to financial reporting. topsystem’s share in this project focused on GHS (Ground Handling System) software modules for the commercial business and IT integration with external systems. Three major benefits have been achieved with the new system. First, the complete IT integration including SITA messaging, PDA-based service recording on the apron, electronic invoicing etc. now makes sure everybody is working with up-to-date and reliable data. Second, the sophisticated planning tools significantly increase the efficiency of staff and machinery. And finally, the commercial software reduces bookkeeping efforts and optimises the revenues by making sure every service is properly recorded and invoiced.
