NACO a key player in the winning team to design Mexico City’s new international airport
NACO, Netherlands Airport Consultants, a company of Royal HaskoningDHV is on the winning team to design Mexico City’s new international airport. Together with Foster + Partners and FR-EE (Fernando Romero Enterprise), NACO designed what is meant to be the world’s most sustainable airport.
Mexico’s President, Enrique Peña Nieto, announced on 3 September 2014 in Mexico City that a collaboration between Foster + Partners, FR-EE (Fernando Romero Enterprise) and NACO has won the international competition to design Mexico’s new international airport.
Design team
The NACO design team from The Hague, collaborated with the Foster + Partner team in London to prepare an innovative and symbolic solution for Mexico City’s challenging environment. This Greenfield airport is designed to be one of the world’s largest and most sustainable. At 555,000 square metres the design and engineering team has created an energy efficient and continuous flowing single roof structure capable of handling approximately 120 million annual passengers.
Previously a member of the successful team for Terminal 3 at Beijing Capital International Airport in China and currently together in Kuwait, NACO is thrilled to be collaborating again with Foster + Partners in Mexico City and for the first time with local architect FR-EE.
