Kronenburg has developed a refurbishment program which provides midlife updates for all makes and models of Kronenburg firefighting vehicles and CrashTrucks. When it is returned to the customer the truck is in a state that assures another 15 years of operation.
When the truck arrives at the Kronenburg facilities it is taken apart completely. Components such as engine, transmission, driveshafts, chassis, steering and break system receive a complete overhaul. Tires, hoses, bodywork and firefighting systems are replaced.
The truck will also be brought up-to-date by upgrading existing systems or adding new systems that have come into use since the truck was built. When the truck has been rebuild and repainted it is taken to the test track for a number of tests. After being approved the truck is returned to the customer as good as new.
The success of the program is based on the fact that fire fighting vehicles at airports, industrial installations or urban environments tend to have a low mileage during their lifespan. As a result the components that drive the vehicle are often barely worn out while other parts are in need of thorough cleaning or replacement.
In such cases a midlife update can be a very economic solution. For 40-60% of the costs that would be made buying a new truck the used vehicle can be completely refurbished. When a Kronenburg vehicle has been in service for 10 to 15 years, a midlife update can add another 10 to 15 years of service. And it takes much less time to have a truck refurbished than it takes to bring a new truck into operation so a vehicle’s downtime is minimized.
Since the truck is being refurbished by the original manufacturer that designed and built it, we can guarantee the finished product will equal the original Kronenburg quality standards.
