Airport Noise Monitoring / Flight Tracking - CDM Solutions

London Gatwick Airport has selected Casper to deliver their new Noise and Track monitoring system. As the busiest single runway airport in the world, Gatwick prides itself on developing, delivering and monitoring aircraft flying procedures that reduce noise impact on the ground. Effective noise management at the airport requires engagement with many different stakeholders, key to this is a class leading monitoring system.

Casper Noise is a state-of-the-art noise and track monitoring system that is specifically designed as an intuitive system for noise and aircraft track analysis. In developing the system close attention has been paid to easing analysis and reporting, in order to improve the quality and efficiency of communication to all stakeholders.

“Casper is a new and innovative solution with enhanced graphical and reporting capabilities. This new system puts the airport at the leading edge of noise management and will be key to delivering our recently announced ‘Fly Quiet and Clean campaign’. This helps us in communication with stakeholders and brings us significant cost savings over the contract period” according to Brendan Sheil, Flight Performance Manager at London Gatwick Airport.

The project includes monitoring of several noise abatement procedures like noise preferential routes, Continuous Descend Approach and ILS interception points. Analysis and feedback on complaints from people around the airport will be an integral part of the new system.

An important part of any effective noise abatement procedure is communication about aircraft movements and noise to people living around the airport. For this the flight tracking product of Casper will be available through the new Gatwick airport noise website. Casper will go live at the airport on April 1st 2013.
