The fact that they love superlatives on the Arabian peninsula is well known. And that they like to test out the limits of what is technically feasible is also no surprise. Two current large infrastructure projects in Qatar are once again demonstrating just this at the moment: the Doha New International Airport (NDIA) and the Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC).

The NDIA has the unabashed aim of becoming the new international hub for air traffic in the region. And the QNCC is the first convention centre in the world to fulfil the strict Gold Standard of the "Leadership in Energy and Design" (LEED) Council, the leading global standard for green building.

It goes without saying that in the field of parking management too a partner of equal standing was required. And DESIGNA was not only more than able to fit the bill, but was also able to use a large proportion of the features that have made PM ABACUS a technological market leader.

These features include license plate recognition adapted to the country's alphabet, thus taking care of security with a high degree of convenience, a VoIP communication interface and the consistent integration of RFID. Together they ensure that the intermobility experience integrates seamlessly into the extremely demanding service concept.

The grand opening of the NDIA is planned for July of this year, with capacity for 12 million passengers per year in the first stage. By 2020 just in time for the football world cup the intention is to expand the capacity to 60 million passengers per year, which would put Frankfurt am Main airport into the shade. And so DESIGNA will be able to contribute to helping the world to experience an outstanding and we anticipate perfectly organised mega-sporting event.
