It was a Happy New Year already at DESIGNA even before the turn of the year. The good news of the award of the tender for the parking management system at Germany’s largest airport gave every cause for celebration.

Number 1 in Germany, number 3 in Europe, number 9 worldwide: Frankfurt is one of the world’s largest and most important airports. Almost 58 million passengers and around 500,000 aircraft movements a year. That leaves little scope for doubt about the challenges facing the parking management system: 14,000 public parking spaces with several million parking operations per year have to be managed. Here the technology leader, the DESIGNA ABACUS System, can demonstrate the full length and breadth of its strengths.

After a pan-European tender process, DESIGNA received the contract award from the airport operator, Fraport, at the beginning of December. The profound know-how that DESIGNA has already gained over the last 10 years in a large number of major international projects was a convincing argument and helped DESIGNA win the tender. In 2012 alone, DESIGNA won the tenders for the airports in Sydney, Cologne-Bonn and Bremen.

The project is currently in the planning phase before a tightly scheduled project plan can be kicked off. From 2014 we can then say: Check in with DESIGNA before boarding.
