Safety measures at airports and in aircraft are often the topic of discussion and international headlines, as a high volume of people in a limited space is an ideal target for attacks. The top priority is therefore seamless, efficient and, at the same time, swiftly executed passenger controls before departure. With its new PAX Airside Control System, Wanzl now offers an innovative passenger barrier system with maximum security for boarding pass control: using a barcode scanner and intelligent technology, the innovative system reliably checks the access authorisation of passengers with or without hand luggage as they pass through to the security-controlled airside area.

Boarding pass check & individual entry

Both gates of the PAX Airside Control System are usually closed. If a passenger with a valid boarding pass wishes to enter the airside area for which he is authorised, the boarding pass is checked by the integrated barcode scanner. If the boarding pass data is invalid, the system remains closed and the passenger is informed by a voice output. Upon detecting a valid boarding pass, the gate's swivel barriers open and the passenger walking through is registered using intelligent sensor technology. At the same time, a check is carried out to establish whether one or several passengers are passing through. If the human profile does not correspond to the airport's requirements, a message is triggered.

A barcode scanner checks the data on the boarding pass, only then does the first gate open. A sensor inside the system then checks that persons are entering individually.
