Airport Passenger Service Systems & ICT Solutions for the Aviation Industry

Date 22.02.2013

Client: Copenhagen Airport

Ink Aviation was selected on the strength of our technical innovation to provide Common Use Bag Drop.

Our software architecture enables integration with any airline host and had to be flexible enough to accommodate widely varying future requirements. Use Cases included:

  • Accepting 2D BCBP from carriers' Web Check-in and 100+ CUSS kiosks
  • Handling per-bag and weight-based baggage tariffs
  • Multi-pax and single passenger baggage grouping

Solution

Ink Aviation extended our existing Common Use Bag Drop solution to accommodate all specified functionality and redeveloped the User Interface from the ground up. Since all our products are N-tier, such extensive development did not require a rewrite of the underlying application.

The finished software system underpins our Bag Drop products such as Mobile Bag Drop and Self Service Bag Drop Units. The airport increased Bag Drop capacity and, with our CUSS Kiosk Check-in, enabled tenant airlines to maintain self service levels above 90%. Training takes less than one day and there are no commands to memorise – everything is point-and-click:

  1. Ink App Servers running on the airport's Virtual Infrastructure
  2. Ink Common Use Bag Drop running on SITA AirportConnect
  3. Ink CUSS Kiosk Check-in certified onto IBM CUSS kiosks
  4. Web Service connectors to any DCS
