US APIS: The easy way to achieve Secure Flight compliance

Improving security without inconveniencing passengers is difficult. Implementation of the US Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) Secure Flight is no different.

Secure Flight requires airlines to submit mandatory passenger information, which it then matches to watch lists, transmitting results back to the airline. Airlines can then prevent individuals on these watch lists from travelling.

The problem is APIS checks are not always quick and painless. Mistakes are made, with and delays not uncommon. Many passengers experience the inconvenience of two queues, the first for US APIS and the second for the normal check-in queue.

Aviation IT company, Ink, have developed a new smart and fully mobile APIS app designed to make Secure Flight compliance easy for airlines.

“At Ink, we help airlines meet their security obligations, while helping them minimise disruption to their passengers,” said Janet Richards, Chief Commercial Officer at Ink. “As well as ensuring 100% Secure Flight compliance, Ink APIS works with whatever DCS or reservation software you use in any airport with our mobile scanners,” she added.

Ink securely receives data from airlines and sends that data directly to the US government in the correct format, ensuring they meet the relevant PNR, Secure Flight and AQQ specifications.

With their mobile APIS app, agents can serve passengers wherever they are and receive an immediate and discreet Yes/No decision, causing zero delays. And importantly, avoid any costly regulatory fines from US authorities.

Ink has also integrated with other schemes, which are all available with their mobile solution. These countries currently include:

  • – Antigua and Barbuda
  • – Barbados
  • – Canada
  • – Cuba
