Airport Prefabricated Vehicle Pits

Company Premier Pits
Date 13.08.2014

The project: New build installation of sunken workshop for bus and coach company in the East Midlands.

Pit specification: One working pit 14 metres long; 1.2 metres wide; 1.5 metres deep.
One full MOT pit with split brake tester and shaker plates. Both pits to be linked by a sunken workshop and office.

The problem: Very limited space. Each pit in separate bays and to be linked at the far end from the doors by the sunken workshop. No overhead cranage available to lift the completed unit into place.

Solution: Used teleporter and 'A' frames to lift the units into place separately. The units were then joined together 'in situ' by novel bolting method. Used pumped concrete.

Outcome: Customer can now operate his whole MOT/Service facility without staff having to run up and down steps, thereby reducing fatigue and maximising efficiency.
