“This is no coincidence as it is now possible to park near the terminal for eight days for as little as HUF 6,900, which is much more favourable than most car parks around the airport,” a statement said.  The real turning point in popularity, however, had been the online booking. This enables motorists to book and pay online for parking and to upgrade to a car park nearer the terminal.

The online booking system (provided by Airport Direct Travel, operating on Budapest Airport’s website), quickly became popular with motorists; in February, online bookings accounted for two-thirds of all vehicles parked at the Holiday Plus Car Park.

In addition to parking, discount “combo” packages are available during promotional periods, for example a Fast Track Lane service for passenger security and a car wash service, which can be booked with significant discounts, in some cases at half price.
