Human Recognition Systems (HRS) was approached by Newcastle International Airport following HRS’s successful deployment of the MFlow Exit Lanes solution at Manchester Airport.

Newcastle was looking for a secure, reliable and cost effective solution to manage the movement of passengers from the critical parts of security restricted areas (CPSRA’s) in baggage collection through to Arrivals at their International and Domestic Terminals. They chose MFlow Exit Lanes because it had been proven to meet the needs of the airport and to meet UK and EC security regulations.

The MFlow Exit Lanes solution uses an intelligent surveillance system, can be integrated with existing CCTV and system controlled doors. Passengers moving in the wrong direction or loitering in the vicinity of the exit lanes, triggers a series of alerts to the security team who can respond accordingly and the system generates a series of local actions to prevent progress in the wrong direction.

As part of the installation the HRS project team worked closely with the Newcastle Management and Project team to ensure that the MFlow Exit Lanes solution met all operational requirements and that all the user groups including UKBA Customs, passengers and airport staff were inducted in the new processes and that the strict security policies were met.

“We decided to go with the MFlow Exit Lanes solution because it provided us with a number of identifiable benefits over our old system. I was also really impressed with the HRS project team who worked with us throughout the installation to ensure that the system was not only installed and commissioned properly, but that our staff and passengers felt comfortable using it.”
