Airport Security Management Solutions

Company CEM Systems Limited
Date 31.03.2010

CEM Systems a brand of Tyco Security Products will showcase its latest industry innovations at the Airport Show, Dubai.  The exhibition takes place on 25th – 27th April at the Airport Expo, Dubai.

On display will be the industry’s only airport specific access control solution – the CEM AC2000 AE (Airport Edition) system.

“With 25 years experience working in consultation with airports, the Airport Show is the ideal platform for CEM to demonstrate to Middle Eastern airports why 80% of UK airports use a CEM access control solution” commented Philip Verner, Marketing Manager at CEM Systems.  “Specifically designed for the airport environment, AC2000 AE provides airports with a powerful and fully integrated security system that can be customised and is continually developed to reflect the latest in airport technology and legislation,” Verner continued.

CEM hardware is very reliable and incorporates the very latest in technology.  The CEM intelligent card readers are particularly ideal for airport environments that require zero system downtime and high layers of resilience.

The CEM S610 readers support all major card technologies and feature a Keypad for PIN security and a graphical LCD screen to display a number of informative messages to airport staff,  for example, ‘Access Denied’, ‘Wrong Time Zone’ and ‘Lost/Stolen Card’.  The readers also feature an internal database with the ability to hold up to 200,000 cardholder records offline.  This is critical for airports that require access control availability at airside/landside doors at all times.

Also on display will be the new CEM S3020f Portable Fingerprint Reader.  The S3020f is a hand-held card reading and fingerprint verification device that enables security to be carried out at temporary check points where no mains power is available.  Unlike comparable solutions that save fingerprint templates only to a smart card, the S3020f reader captures fingerprint templates on the central CEM AC2000 access control server, which then distributes templates to the S3020f reader’s internal database – holding up to 100,000 card/ biometric records.  The reader also has an ‘Occupancy Mode’ which provides the ability to do spot checks on a set group of people in a defined area of the airport.
The CEM AC2000 security management system was recently chosen to secure the new Terminal 3 in Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi.  Spanning 500,000 square meters and featuring more than 160 check-in counters, the newly integrated terminal at the International Airport is expected to be fully operational before the Commonwealth Games 2010, which will be hosted in New Delhi.   The Delhi installation utilised CEM’s advanced S610 IP card readers.  Ramesh Jayaraman, General Manager of ADT Security, India who was awarded the contract stated, “With a fully integrated solution the AC2000 system will allow the airport to run more efficiently in terms of both cost and operations”.
